NEW IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS
COME INTO OPERATION

July 2005

In terms of Government Gazette number 27725 dated 27th June 2005 the new Immigration Regulations together with the Immigration Amendment Act number 19 of 2004 were proclaimed to come into operation on the 1st July 2005 and therefore become the operative regulatory environment in respect of all applications to be lodged for temporary and permanent residence from that date.

It is our intention to provide a comprehensive guideline on this website detailing how this new dispensation will impact on the immigration environment and on the viability of work, retirement and business permits and all other categories of permits.

It is our advice at the current time that any application which was in preparation and had not yet been lodged as at the 1st July 2005 must be re-assessed to ensure compliance with the Amendment Act and the new Regulations.

We are in the process of reconstructing this website and any advice on the website must therefore be viewed against the impact that the new Regulations and the Amendment Act may have thereon. In other words the content of this website pertaining to work, business and retirement permits must be viewed at this stage as being general principles to be applied and not as specific advice.

The forms in respect of temporary and permanent residence which are downloadable off this website will shortly become redundant and will be replaced with the new forms. At time of writing this article the new forms are not yet available in any format.

We are also reconstructing the assessment form on our website to bring it in line with the amendments.

We would suggest that you visit our website on an ongoing basis to keep updated.
