DRAFT IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS PUBLISHED FOR COMMENT

2 February 2005

The Minister of Home Affairs published the Draft Immigration Regulations by way of Government Gazette number 27228 on the 1st February 2005. These Draft Regulations follow the signing of the Immigration Amendment Act number 19 of 2004 into law by President Thabo Mbeki on the 12th October 2004.

The deadline for comment and input on the Draft Regulations is twenty-one days from the date of publication of the notice.

The Draft Regulations are available in PDF format off our website by clicking here .

Once public comment has been received and processed after the twenty-one day period the Draft Regulations then have to be submitted to the Immigration Advisory Board to advise the Minister, where after the Regulations will be promulgated together with promulgation and coming into operation of the Immigration Amendment Act number 19 of 2004.

The Draft Regulations must not be acted upon as they are not in force.

A more comprehensive article dealing with the content of the Draft Regulations will be published on our website in a later article.
