BREAKING NEWS
Julian Pokroy has recently been appointed by the Minister of Home Affairs Dr M G Buthelezi onto the Immigration Advisory Board (“IAB”) created in terms of Section 4 of the Immigration Act number 13 of 2002.
Julian’s appointment has been made as one of the civil society experts on immigration law, to the Board and is a four year appointment.
Section 5 of the Immigration Act requires the IAB to advise the Minister of Home Affairs on the following:
The contents of Regulations made in terms of the Immigration Act;
Formulation of policy pertaining to immigration matters;
The implementation of immigration policy by the Department of Home Affairs;
The reviewing of a decision by the Department of Home Affairs in respect of Section 8 if and when requested by the Minister;
Such other matters relating to the Immigration Act on which the Minister may request.
This is a unique opportunity presented to enable Julian to become part of the regulatory and policy advisory capacity of the Ministry of Home Affairs and enables him to continue to be at the cutting edge and part of development in the ever dynamic field of Immigration Law.
